? Atlanta Botanical Garden Fri., Oct. 9, 5:30-10 p.m. Atlanta Cheese Festival Join local restaurants and vendors in celebrating hundreds of artisan cheeses and cheese producers from around the world. Participating restaurants include Home Grown and High Road Craft Ice Cream & Sorbet. This year, for the first time, the festival will include the Macdown: a competition to see which chef can concoct the best macaroni and cheese. Proceeds from the event will benefit The Giving Kitchen, which provides assistance to restaurant workers in crisis. Details.

Der Biergarten Sat., Oct. 10, 8 a.m. 3rd Annual Oktoberfest Run 2015 Come foster German-American relations and experience German culture while competing in a 5K road race/walk and/or participating in a 1K Dirndl & Lederhosen Fun Run. ? Brookhaven Park Sat., Oct. 10, noon-6 p.m. Brookhaven Chili Cook Off Satisfy your seasonal chili cravings at Brookhaven’s annual chili cook off. Enjoy chili and Brunswick stew made by more than 75 competitors as well as barbecue, hot dogs, and more from local restaurants and food vendors. The Fry Guy, The Atlanta Burger Truck, and Tex’s Taco food trucks will also be selling eats. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Releash Atlanta, a nonprofit that aims to increase the pet adoption rate in Atlanta. Details.
