A pop-up guacamole lounge? Yes, a pop-up guacamole lounge. National brand Wholly Guacamole is on a cross-country tour and will debut the Guac Stop at Atlantic Station on June 28. Expect a customizable guac bar featuring locally inspired ingredients and toppings, new products, and a series of events ranging from fitness classes to an iPhone photo workshop.
Jeff Myers and Travis Carroll, the team behind East Lake eatery Dish Dive, is opening Dive Market and Emergency Kitchen, a locally focused convenience store with fresh produce and a kitchen. Located in Reynoldstown, the spot is about five weeks from opening. Myers told Atlanta Magazine his goal is to serve chef-prepared food that customers can take home and cook themselves, Blue Apron style.
Midtown is gaining a new Mediterranean-inspired eatery. Mulavi opens Thursday, June 29 at 915 W. Peachtree St. The new spot serves lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch along with craft cocktails and a large beer selection with plenty of local options.
Late night eaters, rejoice! Midtown’s hippest Cajun-Vietnamese seafood joint and watering hole Bon Ton will now remain open until 2 a.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, and until midnight on Sundays. The after-hours menu will include smoked shrimp jambalaya, roast beef po’ boys, and loaded charbroiled red potatoes, along with the bar’s popular NOLA-style Hurricanes and frozen cocktails.
Monkey 68, from the group behind One Sushi + and Katana Teppanyaki + Sushi opened Thurs., June 22 in Roswell (1073 Green St.). The new spot serves similar fare to its sister restaurants: sushi and Asian small plates with a large beer, wine, sake, and cocktail list. The Iron Buddha cocktails sounds intriguing with oolong tea-infused rum, amaro, osmanthus syrup, liqueur demure, and lemon.
Southern chefs are hitting the road for a wing showdown at New York City’s James Beard House. On Thurs., June 29, noted chefs from Georgia, North and South Carolina and Tennessee will serve wings and other Southern specialties for a preview of what’s to come later this summer at the Springer Mountain Farms Southern Wing Showdown, produced by Taste of Atlanta. Peach state ambassadors include chefs Todd Richards (Richard’s Southern Fried), Savannah Sasser (Hampton + Hudson) and Brandon Whitestone and Zach Schultz of Cotton and Rye. Taste of Atlanta’s big event will happen Sun., Aug. 20 at the Foundry at Puritan Mill.
CO, Poncey-Highland’s newly opened Southeast Asian-inspired eatery, is launching their adult beverage program tonight. Expect sake infusions made in-house along with fanciful cocktails like the blackberry bourbon fizz, the jalapeno guava margarita and the aperol goldeneye.
