Atlanta sells Civic Center to Housing Authority for revelopment
The property is slated to house more than 200 affordable housing units
Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed today announced the sale of the Civic Center has been finalized. The Atlanta Housing Authority takes hold of the 19-acre plot, after writing the city a check for $31 million.
About 40 percent of the land will be used for mixed-income, multi-family residences, 30 percent of which are slated to be affordable housing units. With about 250 affordable units expected, this project, Reed said, “represents the largest commitment to affordable housing in the city of Atlanta in more than 15 years.”
