What You See is What You Want to See Thesis Exhibition

Artist Jaeyoun Shin’s thesis exhibition encourages you to challenge what you consider personal space. The exhibition includes five paintings — three collage paintings and two Gelly Roll pen pieces on black background. Each one’s goal is to show the artist’s vulnerability and fragility as she navigates a foreign environment. Her work often juxtaposes feelings of nostalgia with new experiences based on the unfamiliar and the strange. The small gallery setting will make you interact with the work more intimately. Pay close attention to the paintings’ titles as they describe the artist’s personal identity and emotions at the time.
