After more than 16 years, the Atlanta scene sometimes takes BLIND WILLIE’S for granted, but the club remains unique for the genuine, first-rate national blues acts it brings to our city, year in and year out. Any other blues club in town could fold and other venues would quickly fill the void, but no one could replace Blind Willie’s - just as no local blues venue has replaced the old Blues Harbor. “828 N. There’s even one in the ‘burbs, a kind of roadside lounge in Marietta called Darwin’s. But for a unique experience that recalls the genre’s rural roots, you gotta go to Chip’s. Located in the middle of nowhere off Ga. 316, Chip’s has converted an old gas station into a jumpin’ juke joint featuring both local and national touring acts. Grab a seat at the bar for a drink, commandeer a table for food service (big on fried stuff - cheese sticks, mushrooms, dill pickles, oysters, jalapeno poppers) or boogie the night away on the dance floor. If the crowd gets too thick or too friendly, grab some fresh air on the wide front porch. Special events include the Harvest Moon Bluesfest in early September and the Chili Cookoff and Musicfest in April. less...
