Lots of new Atlanta music to cover!

— First, we have Twin Studies, Atlanta’s premier shoegaze/dreampop band, with their new demo, “Altered Image.” Precious Places was one of my favorite EPs of 2014, so I look forward to hearing more material from this group.

— Next, we have the first demo from queer punk trio Cute Puke. Although it definitely has a “demo” quality to it, it’s an enjoyable listen; Chastity Belt is a decent reference point. The trio plays TONIGHT at the WonderRoot.

— The newest EP from Novelty Foxtrot, is a DIY team effort — Caffrey (of Fishmonger) enlisted vocal contributions from members of JUNA, Microwave, Good Thoughts, Rookie Move, and Man Up, Yancey, while Noah from Dog Years plays drums. Novelty Foxtrot’s “release party” will take place at WonderRoot on Fri., Apr. 15, with Dog Years, JUNA, Good Thoughts, and Alex Hurtsell.

— Finally, Satisfiers of Alpha Blue have a new EP out, titled Mystery Trampstamp Speedboat Vacation. (The mere thought of saying that five times fast is giving me a panic attack.) Their sound certainly has a ramshackle quality to it, though psych-pop and experimental pop seem to be the major elements at play.

<!———StartFragment———>Fayetteville trio Victory Hands are crowdfunding their newest record, ANDERSON, via Indiegogo. The group is shooting for a $3,000 goal, but flexible funding on their part ensures you’ll get what you pay for regardless, so hop on over to their Indiegogo and check out the available perks! I’m disappointed that I’m only hearing of them now — their noisy and angular sound is right up my alley. They’re hosting a pre-election “rally” at Red Light Cafe on Sat., Nov. 5, though Nixon doesn’t appear be on the ticket this year, thankfully. (Worse: we have Trump! Maybe this’ll jinx his chances...)

Speaking of Trump, Atlanta duo Rae Sremmurd blasted the “presidential candidate” halfway through their track “Up Like Donald Trump” during their SXSW set Thursday night. Apparently, the duo will be voting for Senator Bernie Sanders. Good for them.<!———EndFragment———>

Soft Fangs and Museyroom both played shows here in the last week — if you went and you dug what you heard, both groups are streaming their new records, at Consequence of Sound and Impose respectively.

Coming up, Foster Care have a show at Hill St. House with GG King, Slugga, and one more band TBD. (And speaking of GG King: they’re opening for the legendary MDC next month!) The NYC-based punks are streaming a track from their forthcoming record, out April 22 via Total Punk, over at Pitchfork.

Legendary alt-metal band Deftones are back in the fold, and they’ll be at Shaky Knees on Sun., May 15. In the meantime, you can listen to “Doomed User” over at Stereogum. Gore comes out April 8 via Warner Bros.
