Bursting with energy, charisma, and, of course, swag, Taj is a young emcee who is ready to dominate the rap game. In an industry with little female representation, Taj plans to prove that when it comes to rap, it’s not just a man’s world. With titles like Streetz 94.5’s “Next Hip-Hop Star” under her belt, Taj (pronounced like “age” with a “T”) is off to a good start.

The young femcee originally had her focus on the fashion runway. During an interview for a modeling gig, she was asked if she had any other talents. With the encouragement of her mother, Taj recently embarked on a new journey through the world of hip-hop. “My mom signed me up to go to the studio,” Taj says, whose real name is Chatejah George. “The music just took off from there.”

Although her rap career came by surprise, Taj has always had an ear for music. She has been taking piano lessons for 11 years and also plays the clarinet and bass clarinet.

The sixteen year-old rapper is making quite the name for herself around the city. She recently performed at this year’s A3C Festival and prides herself in being the youngest artist to perform. “It was an amazing feeling,” Taj says. “The crowd was great. They really liked my energy and the music.”

But this is only the beginning. Along with her title from Streetz 94.5, Taj was awarded a single deal with Epic Records. Not only does she rap about the perks of being a young, fly teen, on tracks like “Talk” she raps about bullying and other things relative to today’s youth.

Taj is slated to perform on a national Bullying Tour where her first stop will be Washington DC in December. She performed in Atlanta on Oct. 26 and is currently on a school tour with Lil Bankhead of Streetz 94.5 called “Stop Playing with School.” The tour appears at different schools throughout Georgia and the performing artists speak to the youth about staying in school, maintaining good grades and accomplishing their goals.
