Kanye West pulls a takeover at Facebook

Kanye West performs at Facebook headquarters and becomes an instant trending topic on Twitter, all in one day.

Kanye West is many things. A true modern day renaissance man, if you dare. He’s a rapper, producer, diva, social commentator, and the man who brought us Amber Rose. After a very forgettable 2009 — damn you Taylor Swift — Yeezy is back to recapture the spotlight in 2010.

Proving that Facebook and Twitter do indeed rule the world, they somehow lured the presence of Mr. West and have become the focal point of his promo for his upcoming album due out in September. In one day, he joined Twitter and gained 60,000 followers in 4 hours and then showed up to Facebook headquarters and gave an impromptu performance of new material for all the wide-eyed techies who showed up for work that day — I feel bad for the ones who pulled a sick day card.

People can say whatever they want about Kanye, but the bottom line is the dude can rap and he’s good at it. Going in acapella, with no beats to take the shine away from his lyrics, West showed that the time off didn’t take away from his ability to make us laugh and think at the same time. After seeing less than eight minutes of YouTube footage I am already convinced of two things. One: that this new album is going to be a classic and two, my Kanye West man-crush is back in full effect.
