The A List: 10 shows to hit up this weekend - Mar. 4th, 2016
Ten show this weekend you don’t want to miss, from Mothers to Creepoid.
— Great Peacock, Qualidogs, Motel Radio @ the Earl. $10. 9 p.m.
— Thelma & the Sleaze, Dinos Boys @ Star Bar. $10. 9 p.m.
— Bag Raiders, Plastic Plates @ Vinyl. $15-20. 7 p.m.
— Wuki, Niko the Kid @ Aisle 5. $15-18. 10 p.m.
— Diamond D, DJ Hurricane @ 529. $10. 9 p.m.
Sat., Mar. 5
— Mothers, Warehouse, Red Sea @ the Earl. Considering the buzz that Mothers have amassed in the past year alone, and it’s the night after releasing their debut LP, When You Walk A Long Distance You Are Tired, be sure to show up as early as possible. And of course, it doesn’t hurt that Red Sea released my seventh favorite local album of 2015.
— Big Brutus, Chelsea Shag, Band & the Beat @ 529. $7. 9 p.m. This is the release show for Big Brutus’ debut LP, Tiny Box. It’s the solo project for Sean Bryant of local post-punk troubadours Slang.
— Ben Caplan @ the Masquerade. $12. 7 p.m.
Sun., Mar. 6
— Creepoid, the Powder Room, Motherfucker @ the Earl. $8. 8 p.m. This show is worth it just for the opening acts, IMO, but Creepoid are wonderful in their own right.
— Mark Farner (of Grand Funk Railroad) @ Variety Playhouse. $35-40. 6:30 p.m.
