TUES/MARCH 6
DIECAST — Are they metalheads who’ve gone hardcore or vice versa? Like Shadows Fall, these guys pound out bruising mosh/deathcore — throaty screeches and all — before launching into melodies fronted by a more traditional (and intelligible) idea of singing. The “stand united” lyrics, though, decry human injustice in true hardcore fashion. Red Room/Valdosta (Foy)
THE MONKEES — Enough already. The original pre-fab studio-built boy band can’t even harmonize as well as ‘NSync or the Backstreet Boys these days, and their last few releases of “new” material were lamer than the latest from Hanson. If you’ve just got to hear their snappy songs, play the albums and save yourself the embarrassment of seeing these middle-aged men. Where’s Mike Nesmith when you need him? EarthLink.Live (Horowitz)
