HUSTLER — Nomenclature again hosts its hottest night of the month, Hustler, presented by DJs Kevin O and J-Luv. Drums & Effects perform live, dropping everything from drum ‘n’ bass to booty bass to deep house and distorted guitar into their electrifying live set. DJ Kingspin from South Africa then picks things up and keeps them going as the Xcitement girls wiggle, Mutagen’s visuals jiggle and the trashed crowd giggles. Nomenclature Museum (Ware)

BILLY IDOL — Come on, admit it, you’ve driven down the road with your fist pumping, lip curled, memories of drunken frat parties floating in your head as “Rebel Yell” pounded out of the all ’80s weekend radio station secretly programmed into your minivan stereo. As cheesy as he was (and make no mistake, he was cheesy), there’s no denying the sheer pop thrill of vintage Billy Idol. Own up and enjoy — after all, pretending to be hip is nothing but a fool’s game anyway. Tabernacle (Robertson)

IMPROV NIGHT — This is like open-mic night, only Eyedrum style. Musicians of great talent or no ability whatsoever are invited to get involved. Like past improv nights, this one will be recorded and released as part of Eyedrum’s Improvisation CD series (visit www.eyedrum.org). Eyedrum (Sarig)

INDIE-PENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION — Singer/ songwriters Lauren Fincham, Leslie Berry, Karen Reynolds and Sarah Pinsker perform to celebrate and discuss the Indiegrrl organization, started in 1998 by Holly Figueroa as a forum for information, networking and conversation about independent music from a female perspective. Eddie’s Attic (Smith)

LEGENDS OF RODEO — With a name like Legends of Rodeo, you might expect this West Palm Beach four-piece to stomp out some strand of bar-brawling, country-western music. In actuality, LOR owes a lot more to the indie-rock sound of ’90s acts such as Superchunk and Fugazi. While the band moves with that same kind of melodic grace and swooping dynamics, vocalist Nathan Jezek’s nasal, plaintive delivery tends to feel maudlin at times. Under the Couch (Hutchinson)

TRANCE & BREAKS PARTY — Every Thursday of the month of July the Celebrity Rock Latin Club in Buckhead plays host to local trance and breaks DJs. This inaugural night features Church favorites Sikora, Casper and Project C. Celebrity Rock Latin Club (Ware)

YOUNG ANTIQUES, THE STELLE GROUP, THE OHMS — There’s still a few fireworks left over from yesterday’s Fourth of July celebration. The Young Antiques know the fine line between power-pop and Americana, and they blur it as often as possible by rocking with their own brand of flammable pyrotechnics. The Columbia-based Stelle Group’s rural rock recklessness has a bottle-rocking dirt-floor sensibility. The Ohms, from Athens, also have enough rootsy juice to light up the night sky. Light the fuse and stand back. The Earl (Smith)
