BILLY PILGRIM, DEDE VOGT — Beloved acoustic singer/songwriter duo Billy Pilgrim may take its name from a character in Kurt Vonnegut’s Slaughterhouse Five, but its musical inspiration comes from deep inside the creative fire of the pair’s own hearts. They perform at 7 p.m. (all ages) and 9:30 p.m. (21-and-up). MICHAEL BOLTON — Ahhh. A late summer evening at Chastain, a bottle of wine, a block of distinguished cheese, a true love at your side and, to top it off — Michael Bolton? Why not just take that cheese cutter to your pinkie? Why not use that corkscrew to pop out your eye? ANDY BROWNE, THE INDICATORS — Shut Eye Records celebrates the release of its newest compilation, A Low Watt Document, with a performance by three bands that appear on the disc. Former Nightporter Andy Browne and his ever-evolving band debuts some new material tonight. Looking back to his ’80s punk roots, Browne manages to stay fresh, unlike many of his peers. COUNTDOWN QUARTET, DRY COUNTY DRUNKS — Pairing the North Carolina-based jazz/pop of the Countdown Quartet with the earthy suburban swamp-rock of Atlanta’s own Dry County Drunks is a lot like mixing Miles Davis with the Rolling Stones. Which, come to think of it, could be a mighty pleasing combination. Drunks bandleader Chaz Lounge, who has loudly announced his retirement from his long-held post as the Star Bar’s principal doorman, will trade his flashlight for a guitar and loudly announce himself from the stage. DECADENCE — ARTPARTY 2001 — There’s more party than art tonight at the Contemporary Gallery. And with a musical lineup that boasts both dance music and performance artists on the same bill, it’s certainly going to be a night of artful Decadence. A 6,000-square-foot dance floor and three stages feature local and international music, including house diva Amber and the slovenly antics of Heinous Beinfang. Better hide the good art! In my pop-culture lifetime, I’ve seen the youngest Jackson transform from pugnacious, child actor (on ’70s sitcom “Good Times”) to chart topping, sex-kitten diva, but I still can’t hum one of her songs. Still, her show will undoubtedly offer vigorous dance moves, lavish stage sets, sexy outfits and lots of dry ice.
