BLACK CROWES, BEACHWOOD SPARKS — Atlanta’s favorite bad-boy rockers have revived their flagging career with a new label and creative inspiration from last year’s high-profile — albeit aborted — tour with Zepp-meister Page. But don’t look for a greatest hits show. On this tour, the Crowes are focusing almost exclusively on their new-ish Lions disc, which is a decidedly mixed blessing. The L.A.-based Beachwood Sparks work a dreamy “cosmic American music” C&W groove almost as well as Gram Parsons himself. Atlanta Civic Center (Horowitz)
DAMES AFLAME’S BLACK CAT SHOW FEATURING THE BELMONT PLAYBOYS — Those same sexy sirens who’ve successfully staged vintage-style burlesque shows around town over the last several years are back again, shaking their tassels with a Halloween-themed set of tricks and treats. Providing an appropriately twangy soundtrack for the event are the mighty Belmont Playboys, tattooed titans of the regional rockabilly scene. The Earl (Nicoll)
DR. DAN — Funky old-school ’70s-styled electric jazz fusion sounds just fine coming from Aquarium Rescue Unit’s co-founder and keyboard man. Fingers fly, the band somehow keeps up, and even at his most overblown, Dan is a phenomenal musician with chops to spare. Cotton Club (Horowitz)
GOV’T MULE — The untimely death of founding bassist Allen Woody hasn’t stopped this mule from kicking. Though the trio has expanded to include Chuck Leavell and “special guests” on this gig, their rugged, rambling blues/rock/soul/jazz remains challenging. Beloved by the jam crowd but far more scruffily eclectic and hard rocking than most, the Mule combines tough originals with a seemingly bottomless well of offbeat covers from Neil Young to Zappa. GEORGE JONES, BILL ANDERSON — Jones’ newest release is called The Rock, but he ain’t singing about the WWF superstar. Instead, he delivers another stellar collection showcasing the best voice in country music. Best known for his smooth vocal delivery, Georgia native “Whispering” Bill Anderson is one of the most underrated songwriters in the business. Lanierland (J. Kelly)
THE MAGIC SESSIONS — For one night only, eleven50 assembles three of the East Coast’s most soulful house DJs. As half of Masters At Work, “Little” Louie Vega has released some of the world’s tightest, skillfully produced Latin-tinged house. Tony Humphries’ sets — which helped refine garage house across the border in New Jersey — are legendary for expressing his soulful personality while making listeners sweat. Tedd Patterson, who, back in the day, laid it down at Backstreet, returns for a relentlessly deep set. eleven50 (Ware)
OUTERLIMITS — Outerlimits takes over the Masquerade for a night headlined by the hard, banging Sonic Groove techno trio of Frankie Bones, Heather Heart and Adam-X, whose early parties helped establish the East Coast scene. DJs including J-Luv and Marcos Pieras provide smooth deep house, while locals Flooressence, Freakuincy and Hyst drop breaks and drum ‘n’ bass, and Sikora takes care of your trance needs. TODD SNIDER, STACEY EARLE — Critics of this time-warped hippie troubadour argue that he may be a bit too quirky for his own good. But fans know different. Typically negotiating the stage in bare feet, leaning into his acoustic guitar like a kid testing his equilibrium on one of those swinging rope dividers so popular in banks, Snider uses that playful sense of instability to his musical advantage, parlaying his unaffected mesh of folk, trad-country and rock into a wholly approachable fallibility that serves his modest aspirations well. Opener Stacey Earle somehow manages to be precious and precocious all at once, effortlessly deflecting comparisons to her iconic rebel sibling, Steve. Variety Playhouse. (Rowland)

ROD STEWART — It’s worth putting up with schlocky ballads like “Have I Told You Lately (That I Love You)?” for a good view of Stewart’s pre-geriatric booty-shaking. Rockin’ Rod helps close out the Chastain season with a Saturday-night special sure to include every tune we ever loved or hated by our blond fair-feathered friend. Chastain Amphitheatre (York)
VOLUNTEERS FOR AMERICA — If past-its-prime arena rock and Coors Light can be considered comfort foods, this lineup — featuring Journey, Lynyrd Skynyrd, REO Speedwagon, Styx, Survivor, John Waite, Edgar Winter Band and more — may be the heartiest chicken soup for the soul this part of the country’s gonna consume all year. ELISE & MARY WITT — While Elise Witt is familiar to locals plugged into Atlanta’s singer/songwriter scene, long-time followers will recall Small Family Orchestra, the group Witt fronted with her sister Mary in the ’80s.
