How long have you been in Atlanta? Over two years.
What genre do you usually spin? Usually a mix of breakbeat and progressive hardhouse.
Who are some of your major influences as a DJ? Why?
My drum teacher, all the Orlando guys. My father got me involved with music early in my life. We would listen to records and he made sure I would study for my lessons. Drumming definitely lends itself to DJing.
What artists do you most admire? Why?
I probaby most admire the jazz greats: Monk, Davis etc... They invented a sound and an era.
What qualities do you think make for a successful DJ?
Be friendly, play good records, have strong marketing.
Do you have any pet peeves as a DJ?
Inadequate sound.
What do you like about the Atlanta scene?
Things are obviously changing right now; I like the fact that there are lots of new places to go.
What do you think the DJ/Atlanta scene needs?
More freedom, less attitude, a bangin’ progressive club that doesn’t care what kind of clothes you are wearing.
Where do you see the Atlanta scene headed?
Atlanta is the city of the future. The scene will slowly grow and progress. The cool promoters will continue to build their fanbase and things should be really rocking in a few years.
