From the heart. Bryan Cole, drummer for Java Monkey and long-time Francine Reed backing musician, recently suffered a massive heart attack. Both Smith's Olde Bar and Fuzzy's held benefits last week with a host of local blues musicians and friends participating including Reed, Tinsley Ellis and King Johnson. If you missed out on those, another will be held Sun., April 8, at Smith's.

In the presence of greatness. Atlanta's Hard Rock Café recently put on display the dress Caroline Aiken wore when she played with Bonnie Raitt at the old Center Stage. Potential cat burglars beware: The artifact has been locked in a glass case where it will safely reside next to the existing Raitt exhibit.

Local R&B act-gone-national Jagged Edge paid a visit to their alma mater, Stone Mountain's Redan High School, last weekend to be honored during a "Jagged Edge Day" college scholarship fund-raising event. Exhibiting their commitment to higher learning, they used the appearance to unveil their new www.jaggededgefanclub.com.

All indications are that The Indicators have left their trio days behind. They have just added guitarist/singer/songwriter Ken Morton from the recently disbanded Wonderlust to their lineup. The band's debut full-length release, Beauty is a Whore, is due out soon
