As the world Turners. Those who want to avoid the crowds can still get a taste of Atlanta’s biggest music event when “Turner South Live: A Concert From Music Midtown” is cablecast Fri., May 5, from 8-10 p.m. The performance features the Indigo Girls sharing tube time with Shawn Colvin, a Hootie-less Darius Rucker and Ann Wilson of Heart. Oddly, from that bill only the Indigo Girls are actually scheduled to perform at Music Midtown.

More Midtown. The Indigo Girls also are participating in a Music Midtown-related charity program. By visiting Stargiving.com and clicking on the Indigo Girls’ picture, you can cause a donation to be made in the name of the group’s Honor the Earth Foundation (at no cost to you). And while we’re on the subject of Music Midtown and donations, festival sponsor Barnes & Noble will present C.W. Hill Elementary School, located next to the festival area, with a $2,000 check. It’s Music Midtown’s way of supporting the community, and to offset the annoyance inflicted by turning the neighborhood into an absolute jungle for three days.
