SPREAD ON FILM. The Earth Will Swallow You, a new documentary/concert film about Athens jam-kings Widespread Panic, makes its world premiere in town Fri., April 12, at the Roxy. In addition to footage of the band on and off stage, Vic Chesnutt and Bloodkin make appearances in the full-length film. After its premiere, the movie will see a limited theatrical release, then show up on video/DVD later this year. A performance by Panic collaborators the Dirty Dozen Brass Band follows the screening at the Roxy. For more info, see www.wpmovie.com.

MUSIC OUTSIDE MIDTOWN. Disappointed that there will be no WREK stage at Music Midtown again this year? For those looking for a noisy, improvisational alternative to the more mainstream fare being offered the first weekend in May, art space Eyedrum presents its Jump to the Eyedrum Improvisational Arts Festival May 3-4. Featuring music, dance and poetry, the festival presents artists from New York’s Jump Arts organization, local acts like the Gold Sparkle Band, the Flakes and Konx, along with Chattanooga’s Shakin’ Ray Levis. Tickets are available at Wax N Facts starting April 15.
