Even though Friday night, April 16, is called AMBUSH it’s unlikely that such a strong lineup will sneak up on anyone unaware. This one combines top U.K. talent Ed Rush & Optical with LTJ Bukem. Sounds could range from dense, bristling splintered breaks to jazz fusion-infused journeys inward through stratoscopes with all the edges rounded off. MC Conrad toasts to the strut. Locals Mayhem, R:Rok, Kryptonite, Weatherman, Serve 3 and Section 8 also spin.

Would you like crunk with that?
Even if you don’t have junk in the trunk you can have Funk in your crunk. Chicago’s DJ FUNK plays the pitched-up punk that is ghetto-tech, which is Midwestern booty music Tues., April 20. Mixing that with sleazy house, Funk flips the tracks for slapping the skins.

Kickin’ It
As if you needed a reason to sport your new Filas, Formosa is hosting Sneaker Pimp on Tuesday nights, where the dress code mandates the wearing of sneakers. DJ Rod Summers spins the hits, cranking that volume up over the squeaking of rubber soles against waxed wood dance floors. Just don’t wear those Velcro Wal-Mart shoes; they make you look like a serial killer.

... and hit the Playboy 50th Anniversary Club Tour as it rolls into Eleven50, Thurs., April 22. Not everybody is going to make it to the mansion one day, so Hef has been nice enough to dispatch some his hot ladies to different locales across the country to bring his little magazine and your naughty fantasies to life. Atlanta resident DJ Shortee, who’s the official tour DJ, will be laying down some funky house to move the soles of your feet rather than the palms of your hands. That is if you are confident enough to stand up. Let’s just hope it’s a little more exciting than last year’s Porn Star Ball.
