Iggy & the Stooges: Raw Power Legacy and Deluxe Editions
When punk rock scholars debate where it all began, the 1973 release of Iggy & the Stooges' Raw Power gets cited as either a starting point or a catalyst in the process. A sonic blast of hard Detroit rock from start to finish, Raw Power was recorded in London and mixed in L.A. by David Bowie, but the quality of the original release has been the subject of debate. A cacophony of sound poorly equalized, it did not capture the strength of the band. Now remastered from the original sources, the album is brand new and shows just what the Stooges were trying to do back then. In addition to the original album, the Legacy version includes a rare live concert recorded at Richard's in Atlanta in 1973 by Joe Neil. The deluxe version has an additional disc of rare outtakes and a DVD about the making of Raw Power. 5 out of 5 stars.
