Rob Da Bank and Chris Coco

Listen Again

U.K. DJs Rob Da Bank and Chris Coco were raised on the genre-shattering aesthetic of the late BBC Radio 1 presenter John Peel, and have helped to preserve his spirit on the airwaves. Until recently, they helmed weekly Radio 1 program “The Blue Room”; Da Bank continues as a presenter on Monday nights, while Coco surprisingly spent the last half of 2006 DJing on Euro pop star Robbie Williams’ world tour.

Each curates a CD in this double-disc collection skimming the mellow edge of electronic, folk, rock, world sounds and more. Eclectic enough to impress any astute record store employee, the pair forces a trust in the uninitiated listener by selecting artists who will be unknown to most casual listeners, though names such as Nightmares on Wax and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah might be among the more familiar. 4 stars
