At one concert, no cheeseburger or paradise

A man who tried to attend a 1999 Jimmy Buffet concert is suing Lakewood Amphitheater because, he claims, security officers, who said his ticket was fake, beat him up, shackled him and detained him for hours.

Kevin Danley filed suit two weeks ago against Lakewood and the concert’s sponsor, Universal Studios, for more than $10,000.

The lawsuit claims Danley suffered and continues to suffer “severe, painful and disabling injuries” and “emotional, mental and psychological damages.” His medical expenses topped $380.

The lawsuit describes how Danley, although he had a ticket, was not allowed into the notoriously rowdy show, where fans hail lyrics asking, “Why don’t we get drunk and screw?” and celebrating the ideal of “wasting away again in Margaritaville.”

When Danley asked why he couldn’t get into the show, a guard simply told him the ticket was no good, the lawsuit states. Danley then “respectfully and peacefully” asked to speak to management, the lawsuit alleges, and refused to leave when guards told him management would not be available.

According to the lawsuit, a guard then wrestled Danley to the ground, cuffed his hands and later his ankles, kneed him in the head and kept him first in a trailer, then at the foot of a fence. Danley says he was never formally arrested and that his false imprisonment lasted more than three hours. ??
