CL columnist honored for radio work

Local columnist and radio commentator Glen Slattery, who pens “Lost in Suburbia” for CL’s Gwinnett County insert edition, recently was presented with the Society of Professional Journalists’ Green Eyeshade Award, which covers 11 Southeastern states. Slattery, who frequently contributes readings of his columns to Georgia Public Radio, received the First Place award in the Radio Editorial category for SPJ’s Southeastern region.

Slattery has been a CL contributor since 1998. His writings have appeared in The New York Times, USA Today and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He is also the author of If Water Heaters Could Fly: Uplifting Tales of Suburbia which, he notes, “despite my willingness to go as high as 20 bucks, was not named an Oprah’s Book Club selection.” Congratulations, anyway.??
