How does the same-sex marriage issue affect your vote on Tuesday?
Meg and Katie: We’re voting for Dennis Kucinich. He’s the only one that said he would give full marriage rights to the GLBT (gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender) community. We don’t take sloppy seconds. Civil unions suck. As the more liberal candidates are dropping off, the candidates are able to go more moderate, and Kucinich is the only candidate who stayed along his platform. In terms of representing gay people, both Kerry and Edwards have a long way to go.
Europa and Robert: Robert — Howard Dean, based on his views on marriage. I know he’s not a candidate, but I’m still voting for him. I was going to vote for Kerry, but he came out very bluntly and said he was not for gay marriages. I can’t justify voting for someone who doesn’t think I have the same rights as any heterosexual couple has. Europa — I won’t vote for any candidate that would be against gay marriages. But I have no idea who I’m voting for.
Ashley and Lori: Kerry. He’s the only one left with a chance. We’re not so adamant about the word “marriage.” As long as it carries with it the same rights legally, we don’t really care what you call it. It’s upsetting that Kerry supports legal unions but not marriage, but we’re not going to let that stand in the way. He’s the one that’s going to be there, to take the rest of the campaign further, so try not to waste a vote.
