Who is the Atlantan of the year?
Anthony: Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston. A lot of reality television is so fake and so staged and so redundant, but they brought something new to the table. It makes me proud to be an Atlantan, to look at them, because, dang, it's really not that bad after all. Those two got people doggin' them, putting them down all the time, yet they still seem to love each other and are truly all about one another.
Heather: Rachael Spiewak. She's the head of Sopo Bicycle Co-op. She's trying to make Atlanta more bicycle-friendly. Atlanta is such a car-heavy city and I like that they're trying to offer an alternative. They're doing it in an eco-friendly positive way. They're trying to do something and doing it in a co-op fashion so that's it's sustainable. It's grassroots but it's meaningful.
Laurent: Dallas Austin for making an Atlanta song that drove all the white-trash talk show hosts crazy. They still want to live in the city of Gone With the Wind instead of the city of Dallas Austin and OutKast. It's not necessarily a very polished, sophisticated song, but it's not necessarily a very sophisticated city. But the song has raw energy, enthusiasm and lots of potential.
