Will your fellow motorists soon be joining you?
Charlotte: No. Americans are pretty lazy. We're still paying less than Europeans. It would have to double. Nine dollars a gallon and I'll see more bicyclists. It's really hot outside, so I don't think they want to mess up their hair and one's makeup will drip. I spent a whole year biking to school and I very much enjoyed it. As a medical student, it's very good for one's cardiac vascular fitness.
Audrey: I think so because $3 and up is just way too expensive for gas and people are really rethinking their traveling needs. I had somebody say to me yesterday that they see me biking all the time and they're thinking of using a bike now to travel instead of a car. It's fun and you run into a lot of people and they come up and talk to you because you're riding a bike. It's a conversation-getter.
Jay: I wish they would, but there's no chance. People love their cars too much. It's their identity. It's what they do and who they are and that's why they sit in line and wait for gas and freak out. But it's frustrating because none of the cars give you a break, especially downtown. You have as much right to the lane as a car. Maybe there wouldn't be so many fat asses out there if everybody rode a bike.
