Fighting Words for the Legislative Black Caucus

Last week, state Sen. Vincent Fort, D-Atlanta, went to the Senate well to criticize a comment by Gov. Sonny Perdue that seemed to disparage the Legislative Black Caucus as being preoccupied with political patronage. The next day, Tim Darnell, editor of Bill Shipp’s Georgia, a right-leaning online newsletter, offered this dis of the House’s 39 black Democrats in an article about House Minority Leader DuBose Porter:

“The Dublin legislator and newspaper publisher has done an admirable job of working with the GOP when he can and opposing them when he must. ... Still, it would be nice to see the House minority leader get a handle on his party’s old-school black legislative caucus, who are still trying to make a lot of noise as if anyone still cared about what they have to say.”
