Roadside salvation

We spotted this billboard on Cheshire Bridge Road, among the glut of adult-themed video shops and bookstores. Paid for by the New Covenant Church of Atlanta, the $9,000 ad is an attempt to draw more congregants to the 100-member church, which holds Sunday evening services in Virginia-Highland. Pastor Randy Morgan says he hopes the billboard will nudge gays to church with the promise that they won't be chastised for being openly homosexual. He notes that he chose to place the billboard on Cheshire Bridge's squalid strip to remind people not to succumb to its temptations. "We're a beacon of hope in the middle of [Cheshire Bridge Road]," Morgan says. "We want people to know that God is still available, and not to give up hope."
