A 23-year-old woman on Hasty Place said she was in her bedroom asleep with her 22-month-old son. A noise woke her up, and she then saw a female acquaintance standing in her window. The female acquaintance, a 41-year-old woman with red hair, was wearing a black dress and white shoes. ?
The 23-year-old said the female acquaintance entered her home and took one bag of Hot Cheese popcorn (worth $1.19) and a picture frame ($1) from her home. ?
The 23-year-old chased the acquaintance down Bankhead Highway. The female acquaintance threw a brick at the 23-year-old. The 23-year-old’s right ring finger was injured when she tried to block the brick from hitting her body. ?
The female acquaintance dropped the picture frame and broke it, and also opened the bag of popcorn, according to the 23-year-old. ?
Police arrived, and the female acquaintance was arrested. The 23-year-old then added that she lost $5 while trying to wrestle with the female acquaintance.
A woman said she returned from a trip and went to her apartment on Piedmont Road. Upon entering her apartment, she discovered that her bathroom had been used, her bed had been slept in, and some of her chinaware had been eaten off of. All the apartment doors and windows were locked. The woman’s brother had stopped by the apartment during her absence, but hadn’t noticed anything unusual. No items were missing from the woman’s apartment. ?
The suspect(s) left a newspaper and some take-out food menus in the woman’s apartment. ?
An officer tried to lift some fingerprints from the scene, but was unsuccessful because the woman had thoroughly cleaned the apartment before calling police. No suspects were found.
Two brothers got into a fight at their mother’s home on Crew Street. The fight apparently started when someone knocked on the door and the younger brother, 42, didn’t like how his older brother, 43, asked who it was at the door. ?
The younger brother, who had been drinking, said his older brother yelled at him. The two brothers started to argue and fight. ?
The older brother said he drew a knife to stop the younger brother from hitting him. The younger brother said the older brother was going to kill him. ?
The older brother said he just wanted the younger brother to stop — and that ended the fight. ?
The older brother stays with his mother in the house on Crew Street because the mother can hardly see. The younger brother doesn’t like that because he feels he is the youngest and he should be the one to stay there. ?
The older brother did not want to pursue charges against his younger brother; however, the younger brother is taking out a warrant against his older brother. ?
The mother asked the younger brother to leave the home, and he did.?
No arrests were made at the scene.
An officer was dispatched on a fight call between two brothers on Almont Street. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with a 41-year-old man in the front yard. The man said his older brother, 43, had jumped on him during an argument about a TV program. The 41-year-old had lacerations on his left eye, eyebrow and nose bridge. He also had a busted lip. ?
The younger brother refused medical treatment, saying he had to be at work in less than an hour. He said his older brother just got terminated from his job as a cook at a local hospital and had been drinking alcohol all afternoon. ?
The older brother fled before police arrived.
A 46-year-old woman said someone entered her apartment on Ponce de Leon Road while she was at work. The suspect(s) took a Minolta 135 mm camera lens; a Minolta camera body; a cell phone; a VCR and a purple JanSport day-pack. She added that the suspect(s) also ate a half-gallon of Mayfield ice cream.
