A woman at an apartment complex on Sylvan Road said a 37-year-old man, who lives in the complex, damaged the front door to the apartments and the doors to the hallway and stairs. She described the man, and police located him walking along Lakewood Avenue. The officer observed that the man “was under the impression that the devil was after him.”

The woman added that the man had to be removed from the property before. The man was arrested for criminal trespass. After he was placed in the patrol car, the man started ripping apart the back seat and door of the patrol car. He was taken to the psychiatric ward at Grady Hospital.

An officer saw an ‘87 Pontiac Bonneville traveling east on White Oak Street with a taillight out. The officer stopped the car and spoke with the driver, a 50-year-old woman with missing teeth, brown dreadlocks and a thin mustache. She was wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans.

The woman said she didn’t have any identification and her driver’s license was suspended. The officer asked for her name. The woman gave a name and a birthdate of Nov. 6, 1978. Then, she gave a second name, and a birthdate of June 20, 1950. Then, she gave a third name and a birthdate of June 20, 1949. Then, she gave a fourth name and switched back to the birthdate of June 20, 1950. She gave a fifth name, and a birthdate of June 20, 1949. She then switched back to the fourth name (her real name) and her true birthdate of June 20, 1950.

The officer wrote: “At this point, I advised [her] that she was under arrest for false information, and other charges.”

A 56-year-old man said he was on the sidewalk near the soup kitchen on Courtland Street when a male acquaintance in a green shirt pushed him down and stole $10 out of his trousers pocket.

A 52-year-old man on Edie Avenue said a 56-year-old man who lives down the street had been on his property more than half the night, which was keeping him awake. When an officer arrived, the suspect refused to leave the man’s house and lay on his back in the front yard.

The officer noted in his report: “The suspect was talking to his self and he stated he just wants to hurt somebody.”

The suspect was taken to the psychiatric ward at Grady Hospital.

At a BP station on Spring Street, a 33-year-old man from New York put two 16-ounce Budweisers in his front pants pocket. He then picked up a 12-pack of Budweiser and headed for the counter. The man paid for the 12-pack, but left without paying for the two beers stuffed in his pants.

The man was arrested for shoplifting, refunded the money spent on the 12-pack, and taken to jail. The cashiers said earlier that day, the same man attempted to steal a 12-pack of Budweiser, but the cashiers caught him and decided to let him go.

A 30-year-old man said he was driving his dirt bike with a female friend perched on the back of the bike. He said his child’s mother, a 23-year-old woman, drove out of a nearby apartment complex and tried to run him over. The man tried to lose his child’s mother, but his bike struck the curb and he lost control of the bike, resulting in an accident that caused minor injuries to his hands, arms and legs.

On Eisenhower Street, a 68-year-old woman and a 67-year-old woman said they lost part of their inheritance. The 68-year-old called her nephew, in his early 20s, to come to her home so she could give him his share of the inheritance. When the nephew received a check for $15,000, the nephew wanted all of the money and told his aunts that they “would never sleep again” if he didn’t get all the money. The nephew left before police arrived.??
