The female manager of a Checkers on Donnelly Avenue said she was waiting on customers at the drive-thru window when a twentysomething woman drove up in a forest-green Cadillac. The woman placed an order and then kept adding to the order. The manager asked the woman to come to the walk-up window and let others in the line behind her use the drive-thru window.

The woman became angry. The manager returned the woman's money and refused to wait on her any more.

According to the manager, the woman threw a punch drink on her and said she was going to her trunk.

The manager called 911. The woman threw a hammer through the glass window at the drive-thru, shattering the window. She then fled in her Cadillac.

At about 12:45 a.m., an officer was working an extra job at a nightclub on Cheshire Bridge Road. The nightclub manager asked the officer to help remove an unruly patron, a 32-year-old man who tried to start a fight.

Once removed, the 32-year-old got into another fight in the nightclub's parking lot. The officer told the two men to stop fighting and leave the area. The 32-year-old ignored him. The second man left the area calmly, as the officer requested.

The 32-year-old cursed at the officer. The officer again told him to leave.

"I know my rights and you can't do this to me!" said the 32-year-old. The officer then arrested him. The man clenched his fists in a fighting stance. The officer struck him in the leg with his police baton, tripped him to the ground and handcuffed him.

"I am going to sue you, you can be sure of that," the 32-year-old said. "Sometimes you can just be pushed so far before you strike back. I've been listening to Sheena Easton all night and I'm ready to fight."

The man was taken to jail.

The 29-year-old fled the scene. The 40-year-old didn't require any medical attention.

At a parking lot on North Avenue reserved for police cars, an officer discovered that three patrol cars had been vandalized over the weekend. Someone had taken a blue magic marker and written "Kill Cops" on the hood of one car. "Fuck Pigs" was written on a second car, and "I suck" was written on the hood of a third car.

The patrol cars were taken to a car

wash on Piedmont Avenue, where the words were removed.
