The Blotter June 30 2011

Trouble afoot

At around 4 p.m., a 29-year-old woman heard a knock at the front door of her Lenox Road apartment. When she opened the door, she saw a man walking away — a tall, skinny guy in jeans, a black shirt and black sandals.

Just a few minutes later, the woman heard noises coming from her bathroom. She walked into the bathroom and saw the same tall, skinny man, but this time he was dangling feet first through her bathroom window. Startled, apparently, by the woman’s entrance, Stretch jumped out the window, hopped over a fence and ran down Cheshire Bridge Road. But he left some evidence behind in her bathtub: his pair of black sandals.

Some shampoo bottles were scattered on the ground outside the woman’s bathroom window, but none of her stuff was reported missing.

EASY MONEY: A police officer was walking from the gas station at the corner of Euclid and Moreland avenues in Little Five Points when a guy hopped out of a car, handed the officer nine sheets of counterfeit $20 bills, and said he found the counterfeit money in Cobb County. When the officer asked why the man hadn’t alerted the authorities up there, he replied, simply, “I don’t mess with Cobb County police.” The man refused to give his name or address — he just wanted to turn in the fake money.

And just as that guy was driving away, two other men rode up on bicycles and told the officer that they just found a wallet on the ground and wanted to turn it in. The cycling samaritans rode away before the officer could get any more info.

ASSKING FOR IT: Around noon on a recent Sunday, a woman stopped into a beauty store on Pryor Street in downtown Atlanta. Like a genius, she left her purse in the car and, naturally, when she came out of the store five minutes later, it was gone — along with the $1,000 she claims was inside it. She told police she’d locked the doors, but neither the doors or windows were damaged. The officers did find a clue: someone had scribbled “KICK ASS” in marker on the passenger door.

SWEET REVENGE: A Lithonia woman went to a Buckhead hotel at around 7:40 a.m. to meet her boyfriend — an Army serviceman — and found him asleep in bed with another woman. When the furious girlfriend grabbed her philandering fella’s car keys and left the room, he went after her. The two struggled, and fell on the floor wrestling over the keys. Once he’d gotten them back, he returned to his hotel room — and, presumably, the other woman.

Of course, she wasn’t going to let him off that easy. The Lithonia woman called police, and said she wanted to press charges because her shoulder had been bruised when she and her beau were fighting over the keys. An officer found the boyfriend in a hotel elevator and arrested him for disorderly conduct. It seems no one informed the “other woman” of the turn of events — no word on how long she hung out alone in the hotel room.

Items in the Blotter are taken from actual Atlanta police reports. The Blotter Diva compiles them and puts them into her own words.
