‘Life’ vs. ‘Choice’

Online responses to “Life vs. Choice” by Alyssa Abkowitz, published April 27, 2006.

Great article: I am a lobbyist who has known Elizabeth [Appley] for years. I want to say that I come from a family of journalists and this is by far the best article I have ever seen come out of this publication — absolutely excellent. It is obvious to me that the author has a special ability to earn others’ trust. I think it was positive about both points of view and kind to both parties. I appreciate that.

Pro-choice: It is not just about abortion. Had abortion not been legal when I was raped ... Women do not need anyone to make decisions for them with regard to their bodies. How is a man going to know what is best for ANY woman when it comes to reproductive issues? God forgives! Back off, pro-lifers.

Well-balanced: Great article — CL tends to publish overtly liberal work but this seems more balanced.

Think twice: I had [an] abortion 7 years ago and I wish I never did. To this day, I still have dreams about my child. Emotionally, I was a wreck for several years after the abortion. I was more concerned about losing my boyfriend, who in the end left me, anyway. I have asked God for forgiveness, and I am thankful for it. However, I wish I had never put myself in the position to get pregnant in the first place. People always talk about their rights. What about the rights of the unborn child? Do they have no say?
