Paces Green is an intimate community in an urban jungle

Brightly painted homes equipped with ’40s-style architecture, Parisian balconies and iron trellises transform Paces Green, Buckhead’s newest conversion condos, into a serene haven in the middle of one of Atlanta’s popular night spots.

Built in the 1940s, Paces Green formerly served as apartments until Rowhouse Design recently converted the space into 34 newly redesigned condominiums. Although the physical aspect of the development retains old look and charm, there is nothing old about the interior of these homes. Each condo comes with new hardwood floors, windows, wiring and a completely renovated kitchen.

“When I purchased this home, I knew I was getting solid construction plus something new — which is the best of both worlds. The designers put a lot of work and effort into this development, and I like that,” says Melloney Douce, who purchased her home in February.

Yet, traditional construction is not the only amenity of Paces Green that Douce enjoys. Located on East Paces Ferry Road, Paces Green is walking distance from Buckhead.

“Paces Green combined affordability with comfort and convenience,” says Blake Dowling, who moved in less than a month ago.

The Paces Green community is composed of mostly young professionals, like Douce and Dowling, who enjoy accessing the chaotic Buckhead nightlife and returning to their cozy homes in a matter of minutes.

“If you lived in Vinings, you wouldn’t be able to access Buckhead through your front door,” boasts Dowling.

As a result of the development’s small size, Paces Green’s young professionals are beginning to form a close-knit circle of friends.

“The community is friendly, mature and urban,” says Jennifer Fitzgerald, a resident of the condominiums for about three months.

With six new condos expected to open in November, Paces Green residents can expect to watch the value of their investments grow as prices rise.

“The price of Buckhead property is never going to go down, which is good for someone like me who wants to hold onto her property and have a solid investment plus a home,” says Douce.

And whether Paces Green has 30 or 40 homes, it will always remain an intimate community. Dowling feels the community is akin to the evening soap opera “Melrose Place,” without those pesky conflicts. So, it seems for these residents, the story will have a happy ending.??
