News - An evening with Connie Curry

Civil rights activist Connie Curry, a founding member of the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee, which was instrumental in registering African-American voters in the 1960s, will speak Tues., March 8, following a screening of the documentary Silver Rights. The film follows the desegregation of public schools in Sunflower County, Miss. After the screening, Curry will answer questions and sign copies of her most recent book, which inspired the film. The event is sponsored by the Atlanta branch of Women's Action for New Directions, an organization that "empowers women to act politically to reduce violence and militarism, and redirect excessive military resources toward unmet human and environmental needs."
