Marc Crifasi loves local music. He loved it as a former DJ and music director for Georgia State’s WRAS-FM (88.5). He currently loves it by attending lots of shows:

“I would say what makes the Atlanta music scene the Atlanta music scene is the sense of community. In the Atlanta music scene I know and love, everyone is everyone’s friend. There is no real sense of sniping, and while there might be jealousies and slight pettiness, those factors are not really coming from the people that make it great. Money is hardly ever a factor and people just want their music heard.

“I have heard more than one story of bands going to ‘real scenes’ like New York and needing to borrow an amp or piece of a drum set and the local New York bands being complete dicks about those things. Never really happens here and that is because there is a sense of community.”
