See & Do - Books: Janice Y.K. Lee January 04 2010

Mon., Jan. 11

Natural talent is so readily apparent, especially in the case of author JANICE Y.K. LEE. Despite the unpaid workload of motherhood, the Korean author’s former life in Japan helped set the stage for her debut book, The Piano Teacher, which subsequently became a New York Times editors’ pick, a Los Angeles Times best-seller, and has been translated into 24 languages since its publication early last year. The novel chronicles two parallel stories of colliding fates in Hong Kong during World War II’s Japanese invasion. Lee visits the Margaret Mitchell House to discuss and sign her novel. $5-$10. 7 p.m. 990 Peachtree St. 404-814-4150. www.margaretmitchellhouse.com.
