See & Do - Film: The Christmas Toy December 03 2008

Sat., Dec. 6

Jim Henson, one of the best known puppeteers in America and creator of the Muppets, gave a special treat to audiences when his yuletide classic THE CHRISTMAS TOY aired for the first time on television in the late ’80s. Now, two decades later, the Center for Puppetry Arts will host a special screening of the film Sat., DEC. 6, in celebration of its DVD release. Henson sets his story on Christmas Eve with a cast of rowdy toys – who can come to life as long as no one’s looking – anticipating the arrival of some new friends. Don’t worry, there are no Chuckie moments in this kid-friendly flick. Free-$5. 7 p.m. Mainstage Theater, 1404 Spring St. 404-873-3391. www.puppet.org.
