See & Do - Theater: As I Lay Dying September 05 2007

Sun., Sept. 9

William Faulkner’s classic novel, AS I LAY DYING, explores the dynamics of a poor, dysfunctional Southern family. What better way to emphasize the absurdity of the family’s tragedy than with puppets? The Haverty Marionettes present the crew’s odyssey Sun., SEPT. 9, as it braves vultures, floods and more to fulfill a dying mother’s wish – hauling her corpse to a far-away graveyard – while hoping to satisfy individual agendas along the way. Through Sept. 23. $12-$30. Thurs.-Sat., 8 p.m.; Sun., 5 p.m. New Street Arts, East Decatur Station, 121 New St., No. 4. 404-822-8580. www.havertymarionettes.org.
