Editor’s Note - To our readers

Some features haven’t shown up in Creative Loafing over the last couple of weeks. And, damn it, you’ve noticed.

For example, three columns — Cliff Bostock’s Headcase, Jane Catoe’s Jane Says and Andisheh Nouraee’s Don’t Panic — are popping up in some editions and not in others. Likewise with the concert venue and upcoming concert lists that usually run in the back of the Vibes section. And a few editions have missed a fair chunk of restaurant listings.

That’s because for the last few weeks, we’ve been tweaking a zoned advertising system that affects the space for editorial content. The idea is for our sales staff to sell ads into zones that allow businesses to target their advertising geographically. The problem is that some zones sell a lot more ads than others, so our production department is forced to pull articles and listings out of the paper to make room for the ads.

This isn’t a lot of fun for us. It’s even less fun for writers whose columns are reaching fewer people than before. And I know — believe me, I know — it’s frustrating the readers who are writing me about missing their favorite column.

But, next week, we’re reconfiguring the pages so that the articles now getting taken out of the paper will be thrown back into more editions. That won’t get everything back into every edition. At the same time, there’s one place you can find all our articles and columns, as well as the city’s most comprehensive arts, entertainment, dining and community listings organized in a searchable database. That’s on our website: atlanta.creativeloafing.com.

To the maximum extent possible, I want you to find what you love in Creative Loafing — whether its online or in print. And we’re always seeking readers’ feedback about the paper. So please, send me your thoughts; beseech or berate me at ken.edelstein@creativeloafing.com.
