Dish, Dirt and Drivel - The Green Album
MOVIE TALK: In the newly released film Imaginary Heroes, starring Sigourney Weaver and Jeff Daniels, you might recognize actor Kip Pardue. Pardue, who portrays the on-screen couple's son, grew up in Atlanta and graduated from Dunwoody High School before being recruited to play football at Yale. After a short stint modeling for the likes of Abercrombie & Fitch and Polo, Pardue was cast in Remember the Titans, Driven and The Rules of Attraction. Though he lives in L.A., Pardue is still spotted from time to time in Atlanta - and recently attended his 10-year high school reunion at Buckhead's East Andrews.
MUSIC TALK: He stirred things up in the music industry with last year's hugely successful underground download The Grey Album, an ingenious mash-up of the Beatles' The White Album and Jay-Z's The Black Album. Now, former Atlantan and UGA almost-grad Danger Mouse (aka Brian Burton) is back in town, recording at Maze Studios - with former Goodie Mob member-turned-solo artist Cee-Lo Green. Talk about a mash-up!
PARTY TALK: Props to party promoters Three Brown Girls for delivering on a promise. As I reported a couple weeks back, the girls vowed that their weekly, Sunday night party "Lip Service" at Justin's would draw some A-list celebs. Well, both P. Diddy (OK, he owns Justin's) and Bobby Brown (yes, we know he lives in town) showed up at the first event. Still, not a bad start.
SHIT TALK: In the "rants and raves" section of Craig's List, you'll find a complaint titled "Rich kids are partly to blame for L.A. being so damn expensive." The ranter bitches about the infestation of trust-fund outsiders who drain all the opportunities away from Hollywood's homegrown talent. "There's this guy from Atlanta who's also a 'producer,' he tries to create TV shows, and often pitches them, but hasn't sold anything," the ranter writes. "His parents are huge real estate people in Dunwoody (the Beverly Hills/Brentwood of Atlanta). He still gets an allowance at 29." Um, can we say bitter?
If you have any tantalizing tidbits about anyone or anything worth knowing about, send them my way. Really, I won't tell a soul.
