Dish, Dirt and Drivel - A Bun In Crow’s Oven?
CELEB TALK: At last weekend’s Tour de Georgia, the wheels were spinning - on more than just the streets. An inside source close to the race overheard that singer/songwriter Sheryl Crow, the girlfriend of superstar cyclist Lance Armstrong, was pregnant. Crow was slated to attend the final leg of the race to cheer Armstrong on but canceled last minute. Morning sickness? Perhaps - but this would have to be one well-planned pregnancy. Armstrong had his sperm frozen because of testicular cancer, meaning the couple would’ve had to rely on in-vitro fertilization to conceive.
FAST TALK: Comedian and Atlanta native Chris Tucker was spotted courtside at two Atlanta Hawks games on April 11 and 19. In between, Tucker went for a not-so-relaxing Sunday drive. The Rush Hour star was arrested and jailed April 17 on charges of reckless driving and fleeing to elude after leading police on a 12-mile chase at speeds up to 125 mph. Tucker said he didn’t hear the sirens behind him on I-20 near the South Carolina border because he was rushing to get to church. Next up for Tucker is an appointment to testify in the Michael Jackson trail. Stay tuned.
RESTAURANT TALK: As Dish reported last week, the team behind Inman Park’s wildly popular Rathbun’s - chef Kevin Rathbun, his wife Melissa, and partners Kirk Parks and Cliff Bramble - are indeed opening another restaurant. Krog Bar, like Rathbun’s, will be located in Krog Street’s Stove Works and will be designed by the Johnson Studio. It will offer a mere 40 seats and a Mediterranean-themed menu of small plates, wines, gelatos and coffee. Krog Bar is set to open in July.
CLARIFICATION: Last week’s Dish reported that Gabriel Braswell, who’s opening Midtown’s 10th Street Pi, worked at his family’s decade-old pizzeria, Bella’s. But according to Bella’s owner Mario D’Elia, Braswell ain’t family. D’Elia also says Bella’s has been in business for five years, and Braswell worked as a cook there for two.
