Dish, Dirt and Drivel - Iron Blais

Dish, dirt and drivel

TV Talk: Atlanta culinary genius Richard Blais, the executive chef at One Midtown Kitchen who’s known for his eclectic and sometimes outrageous creations, will compete against a member of the elite cast of the Food Network’s “Iron Chef America.” Dish hears Blais was in New York’s Kitchen Stadium just last week, filming an episode that likely will air this fall.

Music Talk: New Orleans rapper B.G. was in town Jan. 20 filming a video at East Atlanta’s recently shuttered Iris for his latest track “Move Around,” produced by Mannie Fresh. Fresh, Big Kuntry and C-Rod from T.I.’s group P$C were among the guests mingling with budding video vixens at the casino-inspired set.

Awards Talk: The red carpet was rolled out Jan. 23 at the Georgia World Congress Center for the Trumpet Awards, hosted by actor/comedian and Georgia resident Chris Tucker and honoring African-Americans’ achievements in fields such as medicine, law and entertainment. This year’s honorees include actress Vivica A. Fox, South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu, legendary singer Stevie Wonder, and three Georgians — state Supreme Court Chief Justice Leah Ward Sears, longtime civil rights activist the Rev. C.T. Vivian, and R&B mega-star Usher.

Celeb Talk: Speaking of Usher, the website of local photographer Sandra Rose has been jumping for the past few weeks with reports of Usher’s alleged romance with Tameka Foster-Glover, who was once his stylist. However, despite pictures of Foster-Glover and Usher vacationing in St. Barts and random sightings of the two working out together, neither would comment on the relationship to People magazine for a story that appears this week.
