Dish, Dirt and Drivel - Star-studded August

Dish, Dirt and Drivel

Restaurant Talk: Across from the sleek condo complex Metropolis in Midtown, an equally sleek restaurant, The Waterhouse, is set to open in September. Brothers Lenny and Antonio LoRusso are the forces behind the two-story establishment, which promises an “eclectic” menu. The LoRusso brothers also just opened another Waterhouse in downtown Cleveland, Ohio, and it has thus far received good reviews for its fare — and even better reviews for its expansive and reasonably priced wine list. The Cleveland restaurant boasts 100 bottles priced at $20. ... Former Canoe chef Gary Mennie will soon open Taurus on the corner of Peachtree and 25th streets. The menu will focus on local and organic ingredients, and the dining room will occupy a top floor at the Brookwood Place building, offering excellent views.

Bar talk: Dish also hears that a new bar is opening on Monroe Drive. No date yet on when the Midtown Arts Bar will open, but we’ll keep you posted.

Celeb Talk: Some of the hottest hip-hop and R&B stars will descend on the ATL next week when the fifth annual Billboard R&B Hip-Hop Awards are given out on Aug. 5 at the Intercontinental Hotel in Buckhead. Artists 50 Cent, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Alicia Keys, Destiny’s Child, Mariah Carey, and Atlanta’s own Lil Jon and Usher are among the award finalists. The awards follow a three-day Billboard conference at the hotel. All you celeb stalkers out there should start mapping a plan of attack.
