Redneck Boy in the Promised Land

Georgia Public Television had set up a debate that it looked like he couldn’t wiggle out of. But then, as I was walking to my car one day, an Atlanta Constitution reporter told me that Newt had said I was “scurrilous.” Jokingly I said, “Oh, f**k him and the horse he rode in on.” I knew the reporter wouldn’t print it, and he knew I sure wouldn’t want it printed. But it was overheard by a writer for Atlanta’s alternative paper, Creative Loafing. He printed it verbatim. ... Gingrich demanded an apology. On television I told him that I was immediately apologizing to his horse and that I would apologize to him at the debate.
