Uncork This - Museum Crianza 2003 Cigales

The Cigales region is better known for its rosÈ wines, also made primarily from tempranillo, but the climate and soil are apparently perfectly suited for robust reds like this one. Made from old, gnarly vines, its aromas of sweet, smoky cherry follow on to the tongue that adds in toasted vanilla, subtle tobacco, soft couch leather, mild tannins and, oddly enough, ripe strawberries. S, T . $18. 3.5 stars.
