Patz and Hall makes a series of single-vineyard chardonnays from around California, displaying the difference location can have on the grapes in the bottle. This one from Carneros is lean, medium-bodied and bright with green apple napped in butter and pumpkin-pie spices. Fantastic, lingering acidity that complements the roasted hazelnuts, fresh peaches and caramel flavors. Sw=2. $45. 4.5 stars. Available at fine wine shops and restaurants.
