Artist Collaboration Inky Mixtape brings a huge lovefest to the walls of Edgar Allan
For Inky Mixtape, four Atlanta artists collaborate on over 40 prints to be shown at Edgar Allan in the Goat Farm Arts Center.
Sometimes Atlanta feels like the smallest city in the world. You’re always one or two degrees away from another artist or creative person making badass things. The city’s latest artist collaboration is closing that gap a little more. Under the moniker Inky Mixtape, artists Kyle Brooks aka BlackCatTips, Brett Miotti of Pretty Likable Press, Kevin Abeyta of The Factory Press, and David Broughton of Baron Press collaborated on several screen prints during most of last year. And now, they are ready to reveal their hard work to the masses during Inky Mixtape Vol.1: A Gigantic ATL Lovefest.
“I’m thankful to have had the chance to make new friends with talented artists from our city that I had never worked with before,” Brooks says. ”People say my art makes them happy, this time I got to make some happy with three other artists.”
The prints are distinct in their own way as each artist started with a different design. Once they were done with a few prints, they would pass it to another artist in the group and print a new design over it. Print, pass, repeat. Each print has at least four layers of artwork. ”I think it’s a great visual of how sometimes unplanned and unrestricted creativeness can work together to create something that makes people happy,” Brooks says.
Aside from over 40 prints to view and purchase, the event will feature live music including an intimate, stripped down set by Oryx and Crake, drinks from Sweetwater Brewing Company, and if you’re one of the first 50 people in the door, a few surprise goodies. The one-night only event takes place on Sat., Feb. 13, at Edgar Allan’s space at the Goat Farm. Part of the proceeds will go to The Giving Kitchen. Don’t forget to RSVP.
