Streetalk: What’s a faux pas for winter fashion in Atlanta?

“Everybody dresses in college football gear. They think wearing a Gator sweat shirt or UGA ware is somehow fashionable.”

Hayley: Socks with sandals. Besides that, sandals are hideous and

wearing them in winter is disgusting. And straw fedoras in the winter

and miniskirts with no tights. It’s not OK. Their legs are freezing.

We’re in the South so we think it’s not very winter, but it is. Some

girls are more focused on looking cute than being warm. They wear

their miniskirts, tank tops and open-toed shoes. That’s where they’re

making their mistake. Girls can be cute and be warm. Guys just don’t

seem to care. It’s more about being warm than looking cute.

Stosh: The girls down here are frumpy in the wintertime. It’s simply

layers with sweatshirts and hoodies. They look sloppy. In the

Northeast where they know the weather better, they look better. The

majority of girls here don’t wear stylish boots. Everybody dresses in

college football gear. They think wearing a Gator sweatshirt or UGA-ware is somehow fashionable. They don’t know how to contend with winter and don’t have much of a selection of winter clothing stores, so they throw

things together and walk out the door. You don’t wear a Bulldog hoodie

as a fashionable Saturday night outfit.

Kai: Uggs. They are so very tired. There are other options out there.

Uggs became popular because of comfort but fashion is not comfort.

Fashion is style first. Uggs are hideous. They keep you warm and

they’re comfortable but you can easily find some vintage boots. Then I

see guys with nice jeans wearing flip-flops. I can’t stand that.

Winter is one of the hardest times. Everyone wants to stay in but it

definitely can be interesting with layers. It’s the funnest time to

play around with things and just pile on all your favorites. Please,

just no Uggs.
