January 11, 2007

Record thus far: 1-2

OK, so I hit a bump in the road on my first day because Duke fucked me by losing to a team that they historically dominate, but whatever, moving on Theres not much NBA action tonight, with only two games being played, but I like the lines that exist. For the third pick, I consulted our neighbors to the north and took a hockey game. On a side note, if it were possible to bet on, at the beginning of this seasons Real World/Road Rules Challenge: The Duel, I wouldve taken Brad and Jodie as my favorites to win. But commercials for tonights show are indicating that C.T. takes out Brad in tonights duel such is life.

1) New Jersey Nets +6.5 at Chicago Bulls

New Jersey is 5-0 against the spread in their last five games and 4-2 against the spread in their last six games on the road. Besides that, they beat Chicago 91-86 when the teams met in Jersey on Jan. 5, and Chicago played last night (and lost).

2) Cleveland Cavaliers +8.5 at Phoenix Suns

This is a game between two of the NBAs hottest teams. I expect Phoenix to win, but not by more than eight points, which is why Im going with King James Cavs. Cleveland is on a five-game winning streak, including recent impressive wins at Sacramento and against San Antonio. This one should be fun to watch as the leagues top two candidates for MVP (LeBron James and Steve Nash) go at it.

3) Colorado Avalanche/Calgary Flames over 5.5 goals

Colorados Goals For/Goals Against per game average is 6.1. Calgarys GF/GA per game average is 5.6. It doesnt take a rocket scientist to note that both of those averages are over the line set at 5.5. Aside from the number crunching, seven of the last 10 games these two teams played against each other went OVER.

Bet responsibly, although I probably wont.
