Dashboard Co-op and Paris on Ponce are bringing Athens to ATL this weekend. Known as Wunderkindred, the event going down at La Maison Rouge is a celebration of the music and arts scene in our sister city to the east. Bands such as Pheonicians, Muuy Bien, and the Dream Scene will rock the stage, while artists Bo Orr, Lawson Grice, Addison Adams, and others will show off their works. Three vendors (Tapes From the Gates, Pope On Prince, Fur Hat Guild) will comprise the Wunderkindred pop-up shop.

Dash’s Courtney Hammond tells us that Wunderkindred also functions as the kickoff party for Paris on Ponce’s gallery, which is looking to start showcasing works of local artists in 2015. Props to Dash for bringing the party to the typically private Maison Rouge, or as Hammond says: “We’re majorly excited to exhibit our sister city in all its glory. Like most pseudo adults, we don’t have the flexibility to visit Athens all the time anymore ... so we’re bringin’ it to us.” Tickets are $2-$15. Sat., Jan. 3, 6:30 p.m. You can get all the details here.

Almost 10 years after his death in 2005, Wayne Kline’s legacy of printmaking continues to live on through his Rolling Stone Press. RSP was Atlanta’s first and only professional lithography atelier, and it published more than 150 editions by local and southern artists over the years. Though the original press is somewhere nestled in the University of South Carolina’s art department, more than 10 works are on display as part of the Rolling Stone Press Prints Lithograph Collection, which opens up on Jan. 1, and runs through Dec. 31, 2015, at the Atlanta-Fulton County Mechanicsville Branch Library. More info here.

The Atlanta Zine Fest Fundraiser: Printed Matter III aka zines on zines on zines, is one part exhibition, one part much-needed money collector. More than 40 zinesters will donate 11 copies of their zines to the event going down at Hodgepodge Coffeehouse and Gallery in East Atlanta, with one acting as a sort of interactive display that will be donated to the Atlanta Zine Library. All proceeds go to the AZF aka the city’s “Best Forum For Fostering DIY Culture.” 6-10 p.m. Details here.

Fairytales are so much better when the endings scrap all of that “happily ever after” noise. You could say that’s more or less the thought process behind the Center for Puppetry Arts production of Stinky Cheese Man. Based on Jon Scieszka’s popular book with puppets by Paul Mesner, SCM includes the duckling that’s just plain ‘ol ugly with no fix, and, of course, a pungent-smelling clump of dairy in place of the “catch-me-if-you-can” Gingerbread Man. Runs through Jan. 11, 2015. Grab tickets here.

Earlier this year, George Long was “Flipping Translations”, and his current exhibition, Give One’s Eye Tooth For is the artist, “exploring the fragile process of human transitions from one emotional state to another.” Give One’s Eye runs through Jan. 17, 2015. Find details here, and catch George before he’s on to the next one.
